NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State freshman Chris Fields Jr. earned his second in-season accolade of his debut campaign on Wednesday, receiving Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week honors.
The recognition comes after a pair of strong performances against Coppin State and Morgan State over the weekend, helping the Spartans come away with home victories in both. Across both games, Fields averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per contest.
The freshman forward led the Spartans with 19 points in the win over Coppin State, shooting 6-of-8 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. He added seven points against Morgan State on Monday, draining his only 3-point attempt of the evening.
Fields received MEAC Rookie of the Week honors for the first time in his career on Jan. 17, earning Player of the Week accolades that day as well. He and the Spartans return to Echols Hall on Saturday, Feb. 3 to face Delaware State at 4 p.m.
